Arciform LLC has in-house designers, carpenters, cabinet makers, tile setters, framers and we have a long term relationship with our plumber and electrician. This close team of skilled individuals is familiar with and sensitive to the complexities of older buildings. This relationship between client, designer and contractor enables us to have a high degree of quality control.
Anne's design contributions to the restoration/remodel of Portland's historic homes have been dramatic. Since 1998, she has been responsible for the design of hundreds of projects around the Greater Portland area. Her designs celebrate craftsmanship and reflect both her keen attention to detail and her deep desire to create beautiful, practical spaces for her clients. She has resuscitated countless area homes from their past remodeling sins, and each of her projects reminds us to celebrate their architectural importance no matter how large or small.
Anne's design philosophy places great emphasis on environmental practices, such as reducing landfill waste, the creative reuse of building materials, providing sustainable/green options to her clients, and working within each home's original footprint as much as possible. She believes in respecting the original architectural intent of old homes. Anne's inspiration comes from the European's efficient space planning sensibilities. Working within the existing walls, Anne accommodates the modern-day needs for livable space while maintaining the authentic feel of a period home.
A passionate contributor to the historical renovation community, Anne works with organizations such as the Architectural Heritage Center to educate and inspire her peers through participating in home tours and presenting on topics across virtually all facets of remodeling period homes. She is often consulted as an expert in the field of historic renovation, including serving as an advisor on the "Green Home Remodel Guide" developed by the City of Portland's Office of Sustainable Development.
Anne's work and designs have been cited in numerous regional and national publications, including Old House Journal, Sunset, Cooking Light, and Northwest Renovation magazines. She was also featured in the book Natural Remodeling for the Not-so-Green House, published in 2006.
During the years she has been designing in Portland, Anne has delighted the owners of the homes her work has impacted, educated hundreds of renovation professionals and inspired the public at large.
