Arciform LLC has in-house designers, carpenters, cabinet makers, tile setters, framers and we have a long term relationship with our plumber and electrician. This close team of skilled individuals is familiar with and sensitive to the complexities of older buildings. This relationship between client, designer and contractor enables us to have a high degree of quality control.

  Richard DeWolf

Richard loves to show how to incorporate the best of the old with the best of the new. His philosophy can visibly be seen in his ride...a vintage maroon
1950's Mercedes that runs on biodiesel. The other... his renovation business.

Richard founded Arciform in 1997 with the intent to provide respectful design, restoration, and remodeling services of pre-World War II homes in the Portland Metro area. It has since grown to include a broad range of historic preservation and important commercial buildings.

In that time, Richard and his company, Arciform, have succeeded at becoming not only a respected local business in the design/remodel industry, but one that is admired for its practices. They share a dedication to preserving our city's built history and the focus on practicing sustainability in construction.

As Arciform continued to grow, Anne DeWolf joined the company to spearhead its design department. In 2002 they moved their growing business out of their Overlook home, four blocks away, into a modern SIPS (Structurally Insulated Panel System) building they constructed on a Brownfield site, located along the Interstate Max Line. This green building not only was the first local project utilizing a national grant to build on a Brownfield site, but it was designed and constructed to have minimal job waste. This feat won them a BEST Award with the City of Portland and provided a working model the city could use to show how previously "undevelop-able" property could be utilized.

Arciform provides complete design/architectural, framing and finishing services. As their business continued to grow, they moved their cabinet/ custom woodworking shop further down south off of Interstate Avenue to an existing building they purchased - increasing their once 1,500 square foot work space to 40,000 square feet. The original building they created now solely houses Arciform's design department.

While always active within the public sector, in the spring of 2006 Richard was invited to serve on the Board of Directors for the Bosco-Milligan Foundation/Architectural Heritage Center. This organization is a non-profit resource center and showcase for local and national historic preservation, offering a wide range of education programs and exhibits to help people appreciate, restore, and maintain vintage properties. He is a very active board member in his advocacy and leadership, but also in his support of programs and many construction contributions to the center.

In addition to this, 2007 started his public service appointment to the Construction Contractors Board as nominated by Governor Ted Kulongoski. In this role Richard believes that his service on the CCB is an opportunity to give back to his clients and the community.
