THE UMPQUA VALLEY ARTS CENTER
Located in Roseburg, Oregon the Umpqua Valley Arts Center houses a nonprofit organization dedicated to art education, art appreciation, service to artists and art organizations, and to the community. The Arts Association has played a primary role in the cultural development of Douglas County. In 1979, the Arts Association and the City of Roseburg entered into a partnership arrangement to use the buildings in the Fir Grove Section of Stewart Park as a cultural center.
The project first started as an energy upgrade project. The budgets for insulating and weather-proofing the exterior were met successfully, which allowed the organization to upgrade additional exterior elements including restored original windows and the recreation of missing doors to match the original historic ones. Since this time, the Umpqua Valley Art association has adopted this facility and filled every corner with art and offices to operate.
