Marty Hegg started as Anne’s part-time assistant in 2009. With her studies in art, psychology, Spanish and interior design she’s grown into a strong ally on our design team handling not only coordination on projects, but interior design work and marketing. She’s a multi-tasker! As a native Oregonion, growing up in North Portland, she has an ingrained knowledge of our local history.

HOW DO YOU SPEND YOUR FREE TIME?

I’m a “detail person” at work or play, and it’s easy to spend hours-on-end making piñatas or elaborate decorations with my daughter. I also love to cook (relying heavily on recipes), bake, visit with family, and take long walks with my husband Erik and daughter Birgita.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE PART ABOUT YOUR JOB?

I love searching for the elusive, from tile to paint colors to good sources for a material clients may find on a nebulous Pinterest image. I especially love it when we can find what we want for our clients locally. I am a huge fan of creating and updating our specifications package, which tracks the materials we source and where they will go in clients’ homes. It is a tool so many of us use from the beginning of the design process through the construction, and as a resource afterward. I’ve also gained pretty good institutional memory in my years here, and enjoy being a resource for team members who want to find something we used in a project years ago.
