Globetrotters Return to a Breathtaking Home Transformation
ARCIFORM revived the home from the outside in, beginning with the roof and replacing burnt siding and framing to match the original. Inside, we moved the main stairwell and reconfigured the second-floor layout. We repaired or replaced interior millwork that was charred and damaged, updated the systems while the walls were open and repaired doors and windows. Historic paint colors, period-appropriate light fixtures and décor collected from North Portland shops all came together to make the house a home again.
KITCHEN
The kitchen had been completely burnt. The clients wanted the new kitchen to be simple and open, like the kitchens they’d found in Europe. We installed salvaged Fir flooring, custom Versatile Wood Products cabinetry and a cozy built-in bench.
MAIN FLOOR SUITE
This bedroom was the only space in the house that escaped the fire, but it received the same TLC as the rest of the home. A friend of the clients is a mosaic artist and installed a cool stone mosaic in the shower new basin. A corner toilet complies with current building codes and whimsical décor makes these spaces very special.
SECOND FLOOR
At the top of the new stairs is a large, vaulted family room that leads to two bedrooms and a beautiful period-appropriate bathroom within the new dormer. The family was able to move into their home when they returned to Portland and ended up loving their house more than before the fire.
