Emily Henderson's 1910 Farmhouse Transformation

A creative collaboration brings new life—and new purpose—to a classic Portland farmhouse.

Arciform partnered with stylist, designer, and content creator Emily Henderson, her husband Brian, and her talented creative team to transform their 1910 Portland farmhouse into the heart of a bustling lifestyle brand.

Emily documented the entire process on her blog —offering a rare, behind-the-scenes look at what it really takes to design and remodel a dream home.

We touched, shifted, and shimmied every aspect of this charming, but long-neglected home.  Between Emily Henderson and Anne De Wolf, the design for the project often took on a life of its own. The two of them loved to try out every idea and study hundreds of options, giving their creativity a long leash to be rained in by the common sense of Arciform's Stephyn Meiner, who tended to be the voice of reason.

Arciform’s carpenters, lead by Jamie Whittaker, patiently and competently executed this wonderful transformation while carefully respecting the Farmhouse's original character.

In a nutshell,  Arciform

  • Added a wrap-around porch, enclosing part of it to become the a cheerfull sun room / dining space.
  • Expanded the 1960’s addition to house the new mudroom, family room, powder room, and main suite,
  • Repaired and replaced exterior millwork and roofing.
  • Repaired, replaced, and added windows and doors – including some salvaged.
  • Replaced all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing.
  • Replaced all interior finishes.
  • Moved the kitchen and created a sun-filled spaced with a cozy pantry off to the one side.
  • Reconfigured the second floor to make room for a second bathroom
  • And overall gave the home a lot of love.

This farmhouse now reflects not only Emily’s personal style but also the soul of a family home - designed to grow, evolve, and inspire.
